The University of
Kent was granted its Royal Charter in 1965 and the first students arrived
in the October of that year.
The main campus is The University of Kent at Canterbury covering 300
acres just over a mile from Canterbury's city centre.
The
University of Kent at Medway was founded in 2000 in conjunction
with Mid-Kent College. It was originally based at Horsted and
the Bridge Wardens' College, Chatham. In September 2005, the University
of Kent at Medway moved from its Horsted premises to the newly
developed Pembroke campus which it shares with the Universities
of Greenwich, Canterbury Christ Church University, Mid-Kent College
and University College for the Creative Arts. |
